Your Challenge as Associate Legal Counsel

Are you ready to bring your legal expertise to a fast-growing international technology company? Blyce is looking for an Associate Legal Counsel to join our team in Curaçao and play a central role in supporting our global business with timely, practical, and effective legal guidance. 

In this role, you will be responsible for advising on a broad range of legal matters, drafting and negotiating contracts, managing compliance and legal documentation, and working closely with stakeholders across the company to help mitigate risk and support strategic growth. 

Every day you will help ensure Blyce operates with strong legal foundations while enabling our teams to move forward with confidence. 


Key responsibilities

Legal Compliance & Risk Management

  • Analyze and handle legal matters across areas including contract law, corporate law, intellectual property and licensing, ICT law and cybersecurity, insurance law, public procurement law, and employment law. 

  • Identify legal trends and risks relevant to Blyce’s strategy and growth and discuss findings with the Associate Legal Counsel

  • Actively monitor applicable laws and regulations and stay informed about relevant legal changes. 

 

Contract Drafting & Negotiation

  • Independently review, draft, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents, including commercial agreements and licensing contracts (from basic to moderately complex). 

  • Review and prepare legal documentation such as letters, statements, agreements, and supporting evidence. 

Intellectual Property & License Management

  • Manage licenses and intellectual property matters, including updating templates and coordinating source code deposit requirements.

Legal Operations & Corporate Administration

  • Maintain contract management processes and the contract register. 

  • Provide legal support on banking matters such as account management and KYC-requirements. 

  • Serve as a point of contact for external stakeholders. 

  • Manage and archive legal files and corporate documentation, including materials for annual shareholders’ meetings. 


We Offer an Attractive Benefits Package Including:

  • A competitive gross monthly salary between XCG 6990 and 9311 (based on experience and full-time employment on Curaçao);

  • One-year contract transitioning to indefinite when we’re the perfect match;

  • 23 vacation days, with the option to buy or sell 8 additional days each year;

  • 8.33% vacation pay;

  • A gross variable compensation equivalent to an extra month’s salary per year, paid out per month;

  • A gross fixed expense allowance of XCG 500 per month;

Job requirements

What We Need From You

  • At least 5 years of relevant legal work experience, preferably in an in-house legal environment, law firm, or similar setting 

  • Strong knowledge of Curaçao and Dutch laws and regulations 

  • Expertise in intellectual property law, GDPR, ICT law, and cybersecurity 

  • Professional English and Dutch proficiency is required. 

  • Tax knowledge or affinity with tax legislation is considered a plus 

  • Affinity with ISO standards and IT project management is a plus 

  • Knowledge of Papiamentu and/or Spanish is a plus
